Founders of Guava Shop Hawaii, Kai and Liz, opened the storefront with the dream of bringing fresh styles to the North Shore to shop for what they love. 13 years later, Guava Shop Hawaii is an absolute must-see when visiting Hale'iwa! Meet the Guava Shop Hawaii Founders, Liz House and Kai Cost
Childhood friends, Liz and Kai, grew up on the North Shore together chasing sunsets and spending their days soaking up all the island sunshine. As adults, they found themselves dreading their traffic-filled work commute to Honolulu and dreaming of a day where they could bring their idea of a beachy storefront to the North Shore.
Despite a lack of retail experience, these Hawaiian natives were confident in their expertise and know-how when it came to two beach essentials - bikini wear and sandy apparel. With their dream top of mind and hard work to get them there, Liz and Kai opened their first storefront in a quaint shop that catered mostly to locals.
It wasn't long after that they grew out of their humble beginnings and found themselves in a storefront next to Hawaiian must-stop, Matsumoto Shave Ice, on the Kamehameha highway. Their authentic roots, love for living the beach lifestyle, and dream to become a must-stop on a trip to Hawaii are what define the Guava Shop brand today.
