5 Small Changes to Make a Big Impact

Hey there, beach babes. We're right in the midst of holiday season and a new year is right around the corner. What better time than now to start making small changes for a big impact in our lives!? I don't know about you, but I'm all for making constant improvements and consistently striving to be better and do better. Sometimes all it takes is a few minor adjustments to our daily routine to make us feel healthier and happier. So as we close out 2021, here's a handful of small changes you can make that will get you ready for a new year as we enter 2022.

Rise and shine! It's time to start your day early.

Oftentimes, the way you start your day sets the tone for how the rest of it will go. One of my favorite lessons learned is that giving myself a few extra me-time minutes in the morning can make a huge difference in my mood, attitude, and overall feelings for the day.

All you have to do is set your alarm 10 minutes earlier and slowly work your way from 10 minutes to 20 minutes until you hit one hour earlier than your usual wake up call. Setting aside that extra time and rising out of bed earlier than usual gives you a peaceful moment in the morning to get your day started. You can fill this time with a morning stretch, your favorite cup of coffee, or getting some fresh air and sunshine with a light morning walk.

P.S. When you set your alarm 10 minutes earlier, try to go to bed 10 minutes earlier too. Before you know it, you'll be feeling well rested, positive, and ready to take on whatever the day throws your way.

Get those sips in! You need to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

Here at the Beachly HQ, we love a good cup of coffee. And we can't say we mind a glass of rosé every once in a while either! But our favorite sip of all is a nice, cold glass of water. When you're well-hydrated, you will feel healthier and more energized as the day goes on. Say goodbye to that post-lunch, mid-afternoon slump and those pre-dinner tummy grumbles for a snack.

Did you know?

A simple tip to make sure you drink enough water every day is to drink half of your body weight in ounces. That means if you weigh 150 pounds, you should drink 75 ounces of water a day. It might seem like a lot, but it will make your skin glow and keep you feeling refreshed all day long.

It's time to move your body! Even when it's cold out.

If you're anything like me, then when the temps drop and the sun sets extra early, you lose your motivation to move your body. There's something about an extra chilly day and it being dark outside that makes me want to curl up with a good book or movie and just call it a night. But... it's so important to get some movement in your body every single day!

All it takes is 30 minutes to get your blood flowing and body movin'! Whether you opt for a gentle morning stretch or prefer a full blown yoga flow, a bike ride or a walk along the beach - any form of movement is just what you need.

Fun Fact

Youtube has a TON of free resources for workout videos in every category and level you could imagine. So plug your headphones in, grab a water bottle, and get movin', sunshine!

Nutrition is key! Fuel your body with healthy bites.

Has anyone else been eating a whole lotta treats lately? I know I have! Peppermint bark, holiday cookies, and everything else delicious and sweet you could imagine. As we head into the new year, I'm going to be extra mindful of fueling my body with healthy, nutritious food to keep myself feeling energized, healthy, and strong.

And let's be real... a lot of the time, "junk food" is extra tasty! So instead of cutting out all of my favorite treats at once, I'm going to try to focus on filling my meals and snacks with healthier, more nutritious bites so I feel less tempted to opt for the less nutritious snacks. It's all about balance, Beachly Tribe.

Stay grateful! Focus on what means the most.

The holiday season can be filled with high highs and low lows. This time of year is extra busy and it can be easy to lose sight of what means the most. When you make an effort to write down what you're grateful for, you stay present and live with a thankful mindset. Whether it's in the notes folder on your iPhone or in a Gratitude Journal, making little notes of your gratitudes can be a great way to shift your perspective and stay positive.

All you have to do is start off with one thing you're grateful for and work your way up to 10 a day! It can be as simple as a warm cup of coffee, the sunshine, or your favorite beach! This year, I know I speak for the entire Beachly Team when I say we are extra grateful for YOU. Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season filled with lots of sunshine and good vibes, Beachly Tribe!
